In this week’s SCC Online Series webinar, featuring Professor Robyn Guymer from Melbourne University, we are exploring the use of OCT imaging for AMD management.
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging allows for a more granular information to be obtained regarding the severity of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) as many novel risk factors having been recently identified on OCT. With this imaging information, we are better able to counsel our patients with more accurate and individualized progression scenarios.
In her webinar, Professor Guymer will cover how optometrists can correctly classify AMD based on colour fundus photos (Beckman classification scheme), identify AMD biomarkers on optical coherence tomography (OCT) and demonstrate a clear understanding of how these imaging biomarkers should guide patient management.
An AMD specialist, in addition to her role with Melbourne University, Professor Guymer is also the Deputy Director of the Centre for Eye Research Australia, a senior retinal specialist at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. She also leads a team of 20 researchers primarily investigating Age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
This webinar is a perfect opportunity to learn more about the role optometry can play in AMD classification.
